Our Travel Roots Medicine and Healthcare Program in Morocco gives aspiring medical professionals and compassionate volunteers the chance to gain insight into the healthcare challenges and successes of a developing healthcare system. Working alongside doctors, nurses, and support staff, you'll support daily operations while learning about medical practices in a local Moroccan context.
Depending on your experience and placement, your role may range from observing patient consultations and assisting with administrative tasks to supporting community health awareness campaigns or basic care services. Clinics and hospitals are often under-resourced and appreciate extra support, especially in rural or low-income areas.
This program is particularly well-suited for medical students, pre-med applicants, nursing trainees, and public health volunteers looking for observational experience and cultural exposure. You will not perform medical procedures but will be encouraged to engage meaningfully within your scope of ability and training.
Key Activities:
Shadowing doctors, nurses, and medical staff in local clinics or hospitals
Supporting patient intake, file organisation, and non-clinical duties
Assisting with public health education sessions (e.g., hygiene, nutrition, prevention)
Learning about healthcare structure, challenges, and cultural sensitivities in Morocco
Participating in mobile outreach programs or community visits (where applicable)
Engaging with patients through basic support or health communication
Whether you're looking to prepare for medical school or simply want to contribute to a healthcare setting in a meaningful way, this program offers both insight and impact.

This community-driven initiative was created to connect passionate volunteers with local associations, daycares, and grassroots organisations across Morocco—in cities like Rabat, Salé, Casablanca, and Marrakech. It began as a way to support underfunded projects by matching them with individuals from around the world who want to make a difference while experiencing life in North Africa.
By working directly with local partners, this platform ensures that every volunteer placement is meaningful and well-supported. From early childhood centres to women’s empowerment initiatives, each collaboration focuses on real needs within the community and fosters long-term development through global exchange.
Mission & Vision
The mission is simple: to create authentic, impactful volunteer experiences that benefit both the local communities and the volunteers themselves. With a strong belief in cultural exchange and mutual learning, the platform offers flexible project options across various social and educational fields.
Volunteers are encouraged to immerse themselves in Moroccan life—whether through Arabic or French language classes, local excursions, or living with a host family—while making a tangible contribution to community wellbeing.
