  • Our Travel Roots Women’s Education and Empowerment Program in Morocco is a meaningful opportunity to stand alongside local women as they build skills, confidence, and independence. Across many Moroccan communities, women face social and economic barriers that limit their access to education, employment, and leadership. This program exists to help change that—one workshop, one lesson, one conversation at a time.

As a volunteer, you’ll work with local organisations that support women through literacy classes, language education, life skills training, and creative workshops. Many participants are women and young mothers from low-income backgrounds who are eager to learn, grow, and expand their opportunities.

Your role may include teaching basic English or French, facilitating sessions in communication or entrepreneurship, or helping women gain confidence through art, storytelling, or cultural exchange. You’ll be part of a safe, supportive environment where women uplift one another—and where your contributions are both respected and needed.

    Key Activities:

    • Teaching English or French to beginner and intermediate levels

    • Supporting workshops on leadership, confidence, or vocational skills

    • Facilitating creative sessions in art, music, or storytelling

    • Assisting with childcare during women's classes or events

    • Helping build self-esteem through conversation and mentorship

    • Encouraging cultural exchange and mutual learning

This program is ideal for empathetic, proactive volunteers who want to champion equality and offer support in a respectful, collaborative way.

  • By volunteering on Our Travel Roots Women’s Education and Empowerment Program in Morocco, you will:

•Help women build confidence, literacy, and language skills
•Support gender equality and community development
•Facilitate empowering workshops and creative activities
•Form meaningful connections with local women and families
•Live with a host family and experience Moroccan life from the inside out
•Gain insight into women’s issues in North African contexts
•Be part of a grassroots movement that uplifts and inspires change

  • What to Expect: A Day in the Life of a Women's Education & Empowerment Volunteer In Morocco

Each day on Our Travel Roots Women’s Education and Empowerment Program in Morocco brings meaningful interaction, mutual learning, and the chance to uplift others through education and support.

    9:00 AM – Morning Arrival & Setup
Arrive at the women’s centre or community space. Prepare materials for the day’s workshops, lessons, or group discussions.

10:00 AM – Language or Literacy Classes
Lead or assist with English or French language classes tailored to beginner or intermediate learners. Sessions may include reading, conversation practice, or vocabulary-building exercises.

    11:30 AM – Empowerment Activities
Support women in developing soft skills or self-confidence through practical activities—this may involve basic computer lessons, public speaking, entrepreneurship talks, or creative sessions like art or journaling.

    1:00 PM – Lunch & Cultural Exchange
Break for lunch, either with your host family or on-site. Use this time to connect with women informally, hear their stories, and build mutual trust.

Afternoons – Optional Projects or Planning
You may assist with childcare while women attend sessions or help plan future workshops. Volunteers often develop their own mini-projects based on their strengths and passions.

    Days Off
Weekends are free to explore Morocco’s rich cultural and natural wonders—visit medinas, take desert trips, or enjoy local cuisine with your host family.

Every day is filled with encouragement, conversation, and community. Your time will not only empower others—it will expand your own worldview in lasting ways.

  • Your Impact as a Volunteer

Volunteering on Our Travel Roots Women’s Education and Empowerment Program in Morocco is a powerful way to contribute to long-term social change. By offering your time, energy, and skills, you help create spaces where women feel seen, heard, and capable of shaping their own futures.

For many of the women you’ll work with, this may be their first opportunity to learn a new language, speak in public, or explore ideas beyond the home. Your support helps build their confidence—not only in the classroom but in their daily lives, relationships, and communities.

You’ll be helping women gain practical tools for personal growth and economic opportunity, from language proficiency to leadership skills. Just as importantly, you’ll offer encouragement, solidarity, and friendship—an equally transformative gift.

In return, you’ll gain insight into gender dynamics in Morocco, develop cross-cultural communication skills, and become part of a local movement that champions equality, education, and empowerment.

  • Your Home in Morocco

During your time on the program, you’ll be welcomed into a Moroccan homestay, where you'll live with a local family alongside fellow volunteers. This isn’t just a place to sleep—it’s a cultural immersion. You’ll gain a first-hand experience of daily Moroccan life, from shared meals to meaningful conversations and traditions passed down through generations.

    Sleeping Arrangements
Volunteers may have their own room or share with one or two others, depending on the homestay. All rooms are comfortable and equipped with the essentials. Moroccan homes are communal by nature, with shared living areas and traditional couches (known as sedari) used for both sitting and dining.

    What’s Provided
    •Bed and fresh linens
•Three daily meals prepared by your host family
•Wi-Fi access (available in all Rabat homestays)
•Support from your local host family throughout your stay

    What to Bring
Please bring your own towel and personal toiletries. The accommodation is modest but welcoming, offering everything you need for a meaningful, comfortable stay.

    Cultural Connection
Staying with a host family offers a rich opportunity to practice Darija (Moroccan Arabic dialect), try authentic home-cooked dishes like tagine and couscous, and engage in local customs. Your host family also receives support through your program fee, helping to empower local households while offering you a warm, inclusive space to call home.

  • History

This community-driven initiative was created to connect passionate volunteers with local associations, daycares, and grassroots organisations across Morocco—in cities like Rabat, Salé, Casablanca, and Marrakech. It began as a way to support underfunded projects by matching them with individuals from around the world who want to make a difference while experiencing life in North Africa.

By working directly with local partners, this platform ensures that every volunteer placement is meaningful and well-supported. From early childhood centres to women’s empowerment initiatives, each collaboration focuses on real needs within the community and fosters long-term development through global exchange.

    Mission & Vision

The mission is simple: to create authentic, impactful volunteer experiences that benefit both the local communities and the volunteers themselves. With a strong belief in cultural exchange and mutual learning, the platform offers flexible project options across various social and educational fields.

Volunteers are encouraged to immerse themselves in Moroccan life—whether through Arabic or French language classes, local excursions, or living with a host family—while making a tangible contribution to community wellbeing. The vision is a world where travel is more than sightseeing; it’s about connection, contribution, and shared growth.

Where You’ll Be – The Heart of Morocco’s Cultural Landscape

Your placement will be based in one of Morocco’s vibrant cities—Rabat, Salé, Casablanca, or Marrakech. Each location offers a unique blend of old-world charm and modern life, with colourful medinas, bustling souks, and a rich cultural heritage around every corner.

Rabat, the capital city, is a relaxed coastal hub with palm-lined boulevards and centuries-old architecture. Its neighbour, Salé, offers a more traditional, local experience just across the river. Casablanca—the country’s economic centre—buzzes with energy, while Marrakech stuns with its red city walls, winding alleyways, and iconic Jemaa el-Fnaa square.

No matter where you’re placed, you’ll be welcomed into a warm, friendly community that values connection, tradition, and generosity. Your homestay accommodation will be close to your volunteer site, giving you a true taste of daily Moroccan life.

Wander through maze-like souks, sip mint tea in a quiet riad, or take in the call to prayer echoing through a centuries-old medina. Life here moves at its own rhythm.

The climate is typically warm and dry, with cooler temperatures in coastal cities and during winter months. It’s the perfect setting for both exploration and reflection—where each day offers something new to see, taste, and learn.
