What to Expect: A Day in the Life of an Eco Village Volunteer
Life in the Eco Village is rooted in rhythm, purpose, and sustainability. Your Homes in Iceland
During your stay, you'll be based in the heart of the unique eco-village of Sólheimar, known for its sustainable living and inspiring community atmosphere. Volunteers live together in shared housing, creating a close-knit environment where meaningful connections are built every day.
You’ll stay in a comfortable, shared volunteer house equipped with:
Shared bedrooms (typically 2–4 people per room)

Sleeping arrangements are simple and homely.
Volunteers are asked to bring their own sleeping bag, but mattresses, pillows, and bedsheets are provided. As part of the community living model, everyone shares responsibility for keeping the space clean and welcoming.
Meals are not provided by the project, but food is included and delivered regularly for the group to prepare together. A wide variety of fresh and healthy ingredients—such as grains, vegetables, and pantry staples—are made available. Volunteers are encouraged to embrace vegetarian or vegan cooking during their stay.
