Your impact is twofold:
Environmental Restoration
By actively restoring coral reefs, you help rebuild critical marine habitats that support thousands of species. Your work aids biodiversity, increases coastal resilience against erosion, and ensures the reef’s long-term survival in the face of climate change and human damage.Community Empowerment
Through this program, you also contribute to local prosperity. Many conservation activities are designed to provide training, education, and employment to local residents—giving them an eco-conscious alternative to harmful fishing or reef exploitation. Your presence and contribution directly support this community-driven shift toward sustainability.Whether you're collecting marine data, placing artificial reef structures, or raising awareness among local youth, every action you take brings the reef—and the people who depend on it—closer to a thriving, sustainable future.

History
Situated along the northeast coast of Bali in the traditional fishing village of Tianyar, our trusted partners began their reef restoration journey in response to decades of environmental degradation. In the past, Tianyar’s beach served as a trading port, where ships would anchor directly on the reef—causing physical damage to coral structures. Coral was also harvested, crushed, and used as a construction material for local homes, contributing to further habitat destruction.
As time passed, the reef faced even more challenges—from plastic pollution and discarded fishing gear to unsustainable and destructive fishing methods. Recognising the urgent need for action, the coral reef conservation program was founded in 2017. It was established as a grassroots movement to protect what was left, restore what was lost, and offer new, sustainable ways of living for the local community.
Mission & Vision
The mission is twofold: to restore and conserve Tianyar’s coral reef while simultaneously creating alternative, eco-friendly livelihoods for local residents. Through coral propagation, reef research, and environmental education, the organisation empowers both international volunteers and the surrounding community to become active stewards of the ocean.
Their long-term vision is to see Tianyar’s reef flourish into a thriving marine ecosystem once again—full of biodiversity, protected from harm, and supported by a community that sees conservation not just as a duty, but as a source of pride and opportunity. This is conservation that benefits both people and planet, in harmony.
