What to Expect: A Day in the Life of a Coastline Conservation Volunteer
Every day on the Coastline Conservation Program offers a chance to get hands-on with environmental action, explore Iceland’s rugged beauty, and connect with like-minded changemakers from around the world. While tasks may vary depending on the season, weather, and community needs, here’s an idea of what a typical day might look like:
7:30 AM – Morning Routine & Breakfast
Start your day with a hearty breakfast at your accommodation and gear up for your conservation work.8:30 AM – Daily Briefing & Team Planning
Meet with your volunteer coordinator and fellow participants to discuss the day’s goals, safety briefings, and logistics.9:00 AM – Coastal Cleanup & Restoration Work

Your Homes in Iceland
During your time on the Coastline Conservation Program, you’ll be staying in shared volunteer housing. The accommodation offers a simple, welcoming space to rest and recharge after impactful days along the coast.
The volunteer house is located within accessible distance to Reykjavík’s coastline and project sites, with shared dormitory-style rooms, communal bathrooms, and a fully equipped kitchen.
You’ll be living alongside other like-minded volunteers from all over the world, fostering a strong sense of community and shared purpose.
Please bring your own sleeping bag, but bedding and linens will be provided.
Internet access is available, and the house includes comfortable common areas for evening relaxation or group activities.
Meals
All meals are included and typically prepared as a group effort, with a focus on vegetarian and vegan options to support the program’s sustainability mission. Volunteers are encouraged to share recipes from their home countries and enjoy an international exchange over delicious, wholesome meals.
