Want to volunteer on a Careers Development Program in Tanzania? Our Travel Roots hands-on career development program is designed to uplift young adults and women from marginalised communities by equipping them with practical, income-generating skills. With a high rate of school dropouts and limited access to employment opportunities, many local youth are left without clear pathways to build their futures. This program changes that.
As a volunteer, you’ll support classes in tailoring, sewing, and handcraft production—providing mentorship, assistance, and encouragement to students who are eager to learn and develop their abilities. Whether helping with one-on-one instruction or assisting local trainers in group workshops, your involvement helps strengthen both skills and confidence.
You may also help market the products created during training sessions, offer input on design ideas, or help facilitate community sales to boost income for local artisans. If you have experience in marketing, fashion design, business development, or simply a willingness to support where needed, your input will go a long way.
Beyond skills development, the program fosters self-esteem, independence, and resilience—empowering participants, especially women, to pursue meaningful futures with greater dignity and choice.
Key Activities:
Assisting local instructors in tailoring and sewing workshops
Helping to run handcraft sessions with small groups of women
Supporting youth and women with personalised guidance and motivation
Contributing to product development and craft marketing ideas
Documenting success stories for local use and social media
Offering informal English support or business skills where needed
By volunteering on our Career Development Training Program in Tanzania, you will:
Contribute directly to the empowerment of young adults and women through vocational education
Help provide valuable training in tailoring, handcraft, and income-generating skills
Support community-led development that builds confidence, independence, and future opportunities
Play an important role in reducing poverty through practical, sustainable interventions
Share your own knowledge and creativity while learning from local traditions and skills
Gain a deeper understanding of the challenges facing youth and women in underserved communities
Experience meaningful cultural exchange and make lasting local connections

History
Founded in 2021, this impactful community initiative began with a vision to uplift disadvantaged families in Nasholi Village, Kikatiti–Arusha. What started as a humble daycare for just two children quickly grew into a beacon of hope for many more. Within months, the center expanded to care for 15 children, and now provides early childhood education and support for over 40 children aged 2–6.
The center operates as a full-time daycare facility offering academic support, emotional nurturing, and physical wellbeing services to children who would otherwise be denied basic human needs. With limited resources and a rented facility, they have still managed to create a safe and nurturing environment—an incredible achievement powered by passion and community collaboration.
The team is currently working toward securing their own land to build a permanent center, with half of the funding already raised.
Mission & Vision
The mission is clear: to resolve development challenges in underprivileged communities through education, health, childcare, life skills, and conservation. Their goal is to foster equity by empowering women, uplifting vulnerable children, promoting healthcare access, and developing sustainable agricultural practices.
By working closely with international volunteers and interns, they also promote cultural exchange and mutual learning—expanding horizons for both the volunteers and the communities they serve. At its core, the vision is to build a future where every child—regardless of background—has access to education, opportunity, and the chance to be the hero of their own story.
