Worldwide friends are an organization promoting nature protection, peace-oriented activities, friendship, and international understanding among people interested in spending time in Iceland in a useful way.

Today the endeavour of attaining world peace has become a tangible possibility and the development and strengthening of bonds of cooperation and friendship through contact with people from other countries and cultures has proven to be one of the most fruitful means of achieving understanding and unity among nations. Worldwide Friends main aim is to increase intercultural understanding by offering foreign volunteers the opportunity to take part in nature and peace-related activities.

Worldwide friends have many houses all across Iceland to invite volunteers and other participants who wish to work on environmental sustainability projects. Our goal is to educate our young generation and motivate them to take action against climatic problems. We organize different workshops on climate change and marine plastics. We also initiate different sustainable activities such as beach clean-ups, horticulture, renovation, recycling, and up-cycling of plastic.

Environment - Iceland’s round trip with an environmental focus on sustainable living!

Adventure - Discover Iceland’s otherworldly volcanic landscape on a multi-day hike in the country’s less traveled Highlands region.

Artistic - Expose yourself to a wide variety of different art forms while discovering Iceland.

The Projects

Their work camps are a place where people of all origins, ideologies and nationalities can live and work together for 10 days up to 2 weeks on a project hosted by a local community or by WF. They organize these camps in different places in Iceland. Their camps take place all year round. Each camp has its own individuality, different day activities and goals.

Worldwide Friends offers 6 project locations situated in every corner of Iceland, covering all of its beauty, environments and ecosystems. Therefore offers a wide abundance of opportunities to get involved in, such as:
