Wildlife Rescue Centre Jogja is a not-for-profit rescue and rehabilitation center that houses approximately 150 animals taken from the illegal wildlife trade within the island of Java, Indonesia. We work to save protected wildlife from illegal ownership, injury, or wildlife markets and aim to return them to the wild.
Unfortunately, many animals would not survive in their wild habitat due to disabilities, old age, or unnatural behaviors, so we offer sanctuary for them to live out their lives in a safe and loving environment as close to their natural home as possible.
WRC is not only home to several orangutans but an array of Indonesian wildlife that have all been rescued, from: Sun Bears, Birds of prey, Turtles, Gibbons, Monkeys, Parrots, Crocodiles, Leopard cats and Much More.
When you sign up to be a volunteer with WRC you will get an up-close and hands on experience with all the animals at the rescue and rehabilitation centre.

WRC Jogja runs entirely from donations and volunteers to keep their sanctuary running. That is why their volunteers mean everything to them. Which is why they aim to give you the best experience possible and it means a lot to them that you are even thinking about volunteering with them.
And don't worry, there is also plenty of downtime also so volunteers can embrace the rich culture that is Indonesia and experience such activities as weekends in the city of Jogjakarta, visiting temples and waterfalls, trying traditional dishes and drinks, hiking and so much more
